Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana Jokowi, along with their entourage, arrived at Haneda Airport, Tokyo, Japan, on Wednesday, after a three-hour flight from Beijing, China.

Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia’s plane, GIA-1, carrying the entourage, landed at the airport at 00:30 a.m. Japan Standard Time (JST, UTC+9).

The president and the first lady were welcomed by Japanese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Miyake Shingo; Director General/Assistant Minister for Southeast Asian and Southwest Asian Affairs of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Japan Kano Takehiro; as well as Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Kanasugi Kenji and his wife, Kanasugi Yasuko.

In addition, Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Heri Akhmadi and his wife, Nuning Wahyuniati, as well as Defense Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Japan Colonel Andi Nur Abadi and his wife, Andi Rehan Nurjanah, were present on the occasion.

Furthermore, Jokowi and Iriana headed to their lodging in Tokyo, as they would continue their working visit later in the morning.

During the visit, they were accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, State Secretary Pratikno, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir, as well as Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia.

The president has been conducting a series of state visits since Monday (July 25) to three countries -- China, Japan, and South Korea -- which have become Indonesia's strategic economic partners.

The countries also serve as important partners for ASEAN. In addition, they belong to the G20, which is currently being chaired by Indonesia.

During the visit, Jokowi will discuss several issues with the leaders of East Asian countries, including bilateral cooperation on trade, investment, health, infrastructure, and fishery sectors, as well as several global issues.

Earlier, the Indonesian president had a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Beijing on Tuesday (July 26).
