Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesia Anti-Doping Organization (IADO) has deployed dozens of personnel to curb doping during the implementation of the ASEAN Para Games (APG) in Solo, Central Java, from July 30 to August 6, 2022.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, IADO said that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) and the ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF) to help organizers make Southeast Asia's largest games for athletes with disabilities a success.

The personnel assigned to check doping include 27 doping control officers (DCOs), 1 blood collection officer (BCOs), and 33 chaperones (DCO observers).

IADO said that the personnel have experience at various national and international sports events, such as the Asian Para Games, ASEAN Para Games, and National Paralympic Week.

The personnel will be tasked with conducting doping control on 10-15 percent of around 1,300 athletes that will compete ,

On July 23 and 24, IADO had gathered all DCOs to participate in a "refreshment" or engagement activity in Jakarta. The activity was held online. On July 26, they headed to Solo to carry out their tasks as DCOs.

"On July 27 and 28, 2022, IADO held technical guidance for all chaperones at Hotel Amerole Solo. They were provided with a number of materials on anti-doping, especially as regulated in the World Anti-Doping Code," IADO said in its statement.

According to the World Anti-Doping Code (WADA), samples of athletes' urine and blood can be taken without prior notice.

There will be 13 locations where doping samples will be collected during the ASEAN Para Games.

"All sports (athletes) will provide their samples for doping (tests), according to the proportion of representation, except for chess," IADO affirmed.
