Energy has become one of the important sectors for human life
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) continues to develop research and innovation in the new and renewable energy sector to realize energy independence and resilience.

"Energy has become one of the important sectors for human life, given that all humans depend on energy," BRIN's Energy and Manufacture Research Organization Head Haznan Abimanyu stated.

Research and innovation in renewable energy will be able to support the energy transition effort, he noted during the Research and Innovation in Energy and Manufacture to Support the Nation's Independence webinar on Thursday.

"This is also expected to be able to support energy independence and anticipate scarcity of energy, especially fossil energy," he remarked.

"In relation to this, EBT (new and renewable energy) development became one of our focus areas in BRIN's Energy and Manufacture Research Organization," he stated.

Currently, the research organization also continues to develop research and innovation in the manufacturing sector to support the nation's independence in that sector, Abimanyu affirmed.

In addition to energy, the manufacturing sector has currently become one of the issues that is highly strategic to be discussed since it is one of the sectors that the country relies on, he stated.

"The manufacturing sector became one of the important keys in the development of Indonesia's industry in the future. Hence, research and innovation in this sector should continue to be bolstered and optimized," he remarked.

Research and innovation are expected to support development and growth of the manufacturing sector to become more competitive.

To this end, the research organization continues to optimize the research and innovation program from upstream to downstream to produce competitive products that can make their presence felt in the domestic market.

Earlier, at a G20 webinar on Wednesday, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arifin Tasrif highlighted Indonesia's steadfast commitment to continuing the transition to clean and renewable energy amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
