Jakarta contributed 3,157 cases to the total tally of new infections. The capital also recorded 3,100 fresh recoveries and 2 deaths.
Meanwhile, West Java added 1,183 cases, 1,635 recoveries, and 2 deaths. Banten recorded 745 confirmed cases, 237 recoveries, and no deaths. East Java reported 389 infections, 347 recoveries, and 1 death.
Bali was the fifth province with a high number of daily cases at 222 on Thursday. At least 100 COVID-19 patients recovered and 4 succumbed to the virus in the province.
With the fresh infections, the total number of confirmed cases reached 6,191,664 as of Thursday.
Nationally, the number of daily recoveries increased by 5,705, bringing the total tally to 5,988,052.
Meanwhile, 17 Indonesians succumbed to COVID-19, bringing the death toll to 156,957 since the country announced its first cases in March 2020.
The number of active cases increased by 631 people on Thursday, with the number of specimens examined pegged at 122,229 and the number of suspected COVID-19 cases recorded at 7,267.
The Ministry of Health urged citizens to keep implementing a clean and healthy lifestyle to increase their immunity amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Secretary of the Directorate General of Public Health at the Ministry of Health Siti Nadia Tarmizi said.
