"Indonesia is leading the implementation of MRA-TP in vocational education institutions to provide direction to ASEAN, in accordance with Indonesia's chairmanship task in ASEAN for the tourism and creative economy sector," the ministry's secretary, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, informed in Bali on Friday.
Adnyani, who is also serving as the chairperson of National Tourism Organizations (NTOs), said the effort to unify the visions of tourism polytechnics is meant to realize the competency standards of tourism professionals.

Currently, the implementation has been carried out by each polytechnic but with different schemes, so the synergy in vision is needed to practice ASEAN MRA-TP, she explained.
The ministry's seriousness in applying MRA-TP is reflected in the establishment of the National Tourism Professional Board (NTPB) and the Tourism Professional Certification Board (TPCB), she pointed out.
The NTPB's function is to control the quality of the MRA-TP education system, which will later be reviewed by the TPCB, to carry out the certification of quality assurance and register it with ASEAN.
"THE MRA-TP is a jointly agreed reference to facilitate the movement of tourism professionals in ASEAN. Now, Indonesia, as the chair of the committee for ASEAN tourism human resources, should be able to show what has been done for the development of human resources, especially in the tourism sector," Adnyani said.
Tourism polytechnics, under the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, are expected to implement MRA-TP as a pilot project. The results of the ASEAN MRA-TP implementation will be shared at the ASEAN Forum 2023.
