Jakarta (ANTARA) - Human resources remain the main actors in developing tourism in the Society 5.0 era despite the fact that digitalization and technology have developed rapidly in all sectors, according to the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry.

"While recently, technology and digitalization are unavoidable in various sectors, human resources remain the main component, specifically, tourism actors and tourist village residents," the ministry's Resources and Institution Acting Deputy, Frans Teguh, remarked.

In a press statement on Monday, he noted that tourism human resources play a significant role in the interactions with tourists and collaboration between other tourism actors.

"Tourism actors have to utilize technology and digitalization in building communication. Meanwhile, at the same time, they build collaboration and network with other tourism actors," he remarked.

Quality tourism human resources will provide a humane touch that is paramount to providing the best experience for tourists, he stated during the Tourism Awareness Dissemination event in the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru Region, East Java on Friday.

To this end, he expects tourism actors to actively develop tourism in their respective villages, which will have positive impacts on the economy, culture, and environment.

"I press for the creation of tourist villages with the best experience," Teguh remarked.

"We design and offer experience that results in quality result and will affect the economy, culture, and environment in a positive manner. Currently, tourist villages become the engine for tourism revival," he explained.

The ministry has made various efforts to bolster the capacity of tourism actors, produce quality tourism human resources, and develop tourist villages to reach a higher level.

One of the efforts is through Tourism Awareness Dissemination that is the first stage of the Tourism Awareness Campaign.

Tourism Human Resource Development Director Florida Pardosi noted that there are six stages in the campaign.

After completing the dissemination stage, 10 people from every village will be selected to become tourism ambassadors and the agents of change in their respective tourist villages.

"We need people with high dedication, commitment, and strong will to bolster their capacity and develop tourism in tourist villages," she noted.

"The expectation is that they will be trainers for other tourism human resources as the extension of us (the central government) for tourism development," she affirmed.

The Tourism Awareness Campaign will be held in 65 tourist villages in 2022 and 90 tourist villages in 2023 in four Super Priority Destinations.

These destinations comprise Toba Lake in North Sumatra, Borobudur-Yogya-Prambanan in Java, Mandalika in West Nusa Tenggara, and Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara.

The campaign will also be held in two priority tourism destinations: Bromo-Tengger-Semeru and Wakatobi in Southeast Sulawesi.
