"Our country is currently witnessing an exponential outflow of its wealth, a condition I call a net outflow of national wealth," he told top government officials and legislators at the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) in Jakarta on Friday morning.
He assured the nation that his government would continue to work hard to find effective solutions to this urgent issue, warning it could turn Indonesia into a failed state if left unaddressed.
The president then stressed he would not hesitate to make difficult and unpopular policies to ensure the country's wealth benefits the people and is safeguarded from exploitative foreign powers.
"I feel compelled to take necessary steps, even if they are difficult and unpopular for certain parties. I must act to save the country's wealth, ensuring it serves the interests of the nation today and in the future," Prabowo said.
With that in mind, the head of state called on all elements of the country to reflect on the 1945 Constitution and translate its principles into policies. He described the Constitution as a grand blueprint for the nation that remains relevant and effective in governance.
"It is crucial for us to take a closer look at the 1945 Constitution, treating it as more than a mere slogan," he affirmed.
The president also encouraged the nation to cherish the ideas of Indonesia's founding fathers and freedom fighters, mentioning First President Soekarno, First Vice President Mohammad Hatta, First Prime Minister Sutan Sjahrir, and Third Foreign Affairs Minister Agus Salim.
