Currently, the progress of the KCJB project has reached 85 percent.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Transportation Ministry is seeking to conduct the dynamic test of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train (KCJB) in November this year, coinciding with the implementation of the G20 Summit.

"The project is a manifestation of Indonesia-China friendship, which is always discussed in the (bilateral) meetings of the two countries. Hence, let’s support the KCJB project, thus it can run well and sustainably,” Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said in a statement issued here on Friday.

The train has advanced technology called Grade of Automation (GOA) Level 1 and a slim design, which will allow it to reach a speed of up to 350 kilometers (km) per hour, he noted.

The KCJB will have five stops and serve 68 trips per day.

“(Once the train is operational,) the journey from Jakarta to Bandung will only take 36 to 45 minutes. Previously, it took about 2.5 hours to reach the destination," the minister informed.

The development of KJCB as an eco-friendly, efficient, and safe mass transportation mode is expected to increase people’s interest in using public transportation rather than private vehicles.

Hence, Sumadi has requested that the construction and system integration of the project be expedited so that its development can benefit the community soon.

A total of 11 electric multiple units (EMUs) developed for the KCJB project were completed in early April 2022. One comprehensive inspection train (CIT) was also prepared earlier for the project.

The delivery of trains to Indonesia began on Friday (August 5, 2022).

President director of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC), Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi, said that the inaugural delivery of EMUs and CIT was the first overseas delivery of the Chinese fast train.

The trains underwent both static and dynamic tests at the production site before their dispatch.

"Currently, the progress of the KCJB project has reached 85 percent,” the president director informed.

The remaining works include the construction of Tunnel 2, track laying, and completion of the development of the stations, he said.
