Once again, my message to all mayors is to provide good public spaces; let young people be creative, express themselves…
Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil has asked mayors to provide public spaces where the youth can get creative and express themselves.

He made his request during the Youth City Changers (YCC) talk show at the Bagindo Aziz Chan Youth Center Building, Padang city, West Sumatra, on Sunday.

"As a former mayor, I see that young people in the community are the 'seeds' for the future, whose cities often do not provide spaces for (them to express their) aspirations so that their aspirations are snatched away," Kamil said, according to a press statement issued on Monday.

The YCC talk show was organized as part of the 2022 National Working Meeting of the Association of Indonesian Municipalities (Apeksi).

Young people who are active in the community have the potential for a bright future because they have space to be creative as well as express themselves, Kamil said.

"Once again, my message to all mayors is to provide good public spaces; let young people be creative, express themselves. Then, build creative buildings so that expression becomes economy. If they can prosper from the economy, the cities will be great," he remarked.

Meanwhile, Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, who was also present at the talk show, said that the younger generation must be productive and have a "road map" for a bright future.

"It is time for us Indonesians, with the younger generation that has skills, knowledge, outstanding creativity, which does not only think domestically, to conquer the global world," the minister said.

"Our message to young people is to live a productive life, make a work plan, a 'road map' to who you want to become, work hard, and I believe the future of Indonesia is in your hands," he added.
