Thank you for Toyota Astra Motor's (TAM's) support for (Indonesia's) G20 Presidency  in the form of 143 Lexus cars.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto received 143 electric cars from Toyota Astra-Motor (TAM) to support the G20 Summit scheduled to be held in Bali in November 2022.

Hartarto expressed gratitude for the assistance received in the form of Lexus UX 300e electric cars.

The minister expressed hope that the cars would not only be used in the G20 Summit but would also be produced en masse at the Toyota Manufacturing Indonesia (TMI) plant.

"Thank you for Toyota Astra Motor's (TAM's) support for (Indonesia's) G20 Presidency in the form of 143 Lexus cars," he affirmed.

He said several national automotive industries will partake in the G20 Summit. The use of electric cars during the G20 Summit is a manifestation of the government's efforts to lower carbon emissions by 29 percent by 2030.

With support from various automotive industries during the G20 Summit, coupled with the availability of raw material for the production of electrical battery in the country, he said Indonesia would be able to produce electric vehicles in the years to come.

"We have nickel (deposits), so we will encourage automotive industries to use nickel batteries in the future," he noted.

Meanwhile, TAM Vice President Henry Tanoto expressed pride over Toyota being trusted to support the G20 Summit this year. TAM will always support Indonesia's G20 presidency at the G20 Summit.

"To increase mobility, we ready one of our best electric vehicles -- Lexus UX 300e -- as one of the official vehicles for the G20 Summit," he stated.
