Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Religious Affairs Ministry's Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has opened registrations for the recruitment of 6,179 halal certification assistants in a bid to achieve the 10-million halal product target in 2022.

"The halal product process assistants will be assigned to assist in the halal certification process submitted by entrepreneurs through the self-declare mechanism," BPJPH head Aqil Irham informed in a written statement issued here on Friday.

The recruitment will take place at 229 sub-districts in 13 provinces of Bali, Banten, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, East Kalimantan, Bangka Belitung, Riau, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, and North Sumatra, he said.

"Those provinces are (the focus of) the target to expedite halal certification in the second semester of 2022," Irham added.

The recruitment process will be conducted online, and registrations will be open on the ptsp.halal.go.id website from August 15 to 31, 2022, he said.

The BPJPH head then listed the eligibility criteria for halal certification assistants: they must be of Indonesian nationality, Muslim, have appropriate understanding of the relevant Islamic knowledge on halal status, and must at least have a senior high school or equivalent diploma.

"Applicants will attend halal product certification assistant training at their preferred halal product process assistance institution. If they pass the assessment and received the certificate, they will be eligible to become halal product assistants," he said.

Applicants can study the BPJPH Head Decision No. 33 of 2022 on the criteria of products eligible for registration through the self-declare mechanism before registering, Irham added.
