Drug traffickers had smuggled illicit drugs to Riau by using the various river lines in the province, West Jakarta Police Head Senior Commissioner Pasma Royce told the press here on Monday.
The ecstasy pills were confiscated in Riau following a tip-off from Jakarta's ecstasy user, who had been earlier arrested by the West Jakarta Police.
The Riau Police later arrested M, 31, and S, 40, at separate locations and retrieved a total of 101,355 ecstasy pills from them.
They planned to carry the ecstasy pills packed in 22 plastic pouches to Jakarta.
"We also seized crystal methamphetamine weighing some 72.86 grams in a plastic and ready to be distributed and also 46.35 grams of hashish in a plastic," Royce remarked.
The two men were later brought to Jakarta for further investigation at the West Jakarta Police's Office.
They admitted to have been acting as illicit drug couriers on five instances and were paid Rp3 million per pouch.
The police continued the investigation to catch the main perpetrators, who smuggled the illicit drugs from Malaysia into Riau Province.
The drugs were probably distributed in night clubs in Jakarta, the police said.
