Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung (ANTARA) - Army Chief of Staff General Dudung Abdurachman, on Friday, observed preparations for security arrangements for the G20 Development Working Group (G20 DWG) meeting scheduled on September 7-9 in Belitung, Bangka Belitung Islands Province.

"TNI (the Indonesian military) is ready to help secure the G20 (DWG meeting) in Belitung," Chief of the Information Section of the Military Resort Command 045 /Gaya Infantry Major Subkhan stated in Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung.

G20 DWG is one of the working groups of Indonesia's G20 Presidency that aims to discuss development issues in developing countries, least developed countries (LDC), and island countries (Small Island Developing States/SIDS).

General Abdurachman visited the Bangka Belitung provincial capital of Pangkalpinang to observe preparations for security arrangements for the G20 event in Belitung to ensure that the G20 ministerial meeting will run in a safe, peaceful, smooth, and conducive manner.

"TNI, along with Polri (Indonesian Police) and the regional government, is present to create a conducive situation, so that the public will sense security and peace during the G20 event," he affirmed.

He said delegates from G20 member states are expected to attend the G20 DWG meeting, so that their participation in the meeting will have an impact on investment and the local people's economy.

"The TNI will deploy soldiers that the Army's operation staff has readied to make the G20 event a success," he stated.

He ensured that Bangka Belitung Islands, particularly Belitung, is secure and ready to receive G20 delegates, investors, and tourists.

"The delegates will see for themselves that Belitung is really secure, conducive, and peaceful," he said.
