Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) applauded the implementation of the XI National Scout Jamboree, held at the Cibubur Scout Campground on August 14-21, 2022, for providing various activities to hone the skills of youngsters.

"The activities are very diverse. There are (activities) for (building) craft, technology, environmental, (and) cultural skills. I think it is very good," he stated after reviewing the national jamboree here on Friday, as quoted from a statement.

Jokowi noted that in addition to various outdoor activities, such as rock climbing, there are also the plastic waste management activity to address the environmental issue as well as the batik-making activity for participants coming from regions not having batik industry centers.

Furthermore, the president lauded the jamboree for teaching digital technology skills to scouts through the digital village zone and cloud computing activity.

"I also saw that the children were introduced to technology (and) digital (skills), (such as) how to create a website, (and) how to participate in e-sports," he stated.

During his visit, Jokowi was accompanied by Youth and Sports Minister Zainudin Amali as well as Chairperson of the National Organization of Scout Movement, Budi Waseso.

Earlier, while reporting on preparations of the jamboree at the Presidential Palace on August 12, 2022, Waseso invited the president to review the scout activity.

The jamboree, themed "Through XI National Scout Jamboree, We Create Cheerful, Dedicated, and Accomplished Scouts," was inaugurated on August 14, 2022, to coincide with the 61st National Scout Day.

Waseso said the event is attended by about 11 thousand participants, including scouts aged 11-15 years and their advisers from all districts and cities throughout Indonesia, as well as several participants from abroad.

To prevent the transmission of COVID-19, the participants are required to have received the third vaccination dose before partaking in the event.

The organizer of the jamboree also conducts several swab tests before, during, and after the event as well as provides booster vaccinations for participants, who have not received the third shot.
