And, I plan a joint exercise at ASEAN level involving ASEAN navies. I will ask them (ASEAN navy chiefs) to approve it.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The ASEAN Navy Chief Meeting (ANCM) 2022 will discuss the conduct of a joint exercise with other ASEAN member states, Indonesian Naval Chief of Staff Admiral Yudo Margono has said.

The meeting is scheduled to be held in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Monday (August 22, 2022).

"On Monday, we will hold ANCM. This year, I happen to be the host (of the meeting), so I will lead ASEAN Naval Chiefs of Staff in Bali," Margono said on the sidelines of joint prayers and a wreath-laying ceremony aboard warship KRI Semarang-594 in Jakarta Bay on Friday evening.

He said ANCM 2022 will discuss several issues, including joint exercises.

"And, I plan a joint exercise at ASEAN level involving ASEAN navies. I will ask them (ASEAN navy chiefs) to approve it," he informed.

Several ASEAN member states, including Singapore and Malaysia, have agreed to the plan for the joint exercise, he said.

"We have talked with Malaysia and Singapore. Of course, it (the plan for joint exercise) must secure a seal of approval from all member states. In 2023, we will hold a joint exercise, particularly for ASEAN member states. Later, if other countries wish to join it, we will discuss the wish later on," he added.
