“This program starts this semester. For the first year, 23 thousand practitioners have registered, while 13 thousand have been verified, who will be absorbed in 7 thousand course programs," the program's practitioner onboarding manager, Adrian Bani Kansil, informed during the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) and Bank Indonesia (BI) Institute in Tangerang district, Banten, on Monday.
The Teaching Practitioner program rolled out by the ministry invites practitioners to teach on campuses. Thus, it is expected to narrow the distance between the world of education and industry.
Under the collaboration, innovations will be made by campuses and also practitioners.
"This program does not mean to replace the role of lecturers but to invite lecturers and practitioners to collaborate with each other," he added.
Meanwhile, Kansil expressed his gratitude for the collaboration between UMN and BI Institute.
UMN Rector Ninok Leksono welcomed the collaboration between his university and BI Institute. Currently, UMN is targeting to achieve "superior" accreditation.
Meanwhile, director of Bank Indonesia Institute, Dr. Arlyana Abubakar, MBA, said the collaboration between UMN and BI Institute is a pilot project for the Teaching Practitioner program. The cooperation aims to support the strengthening of competence, especially in the economic field.
The collaboration is expected to give birth to new innovations in the banking sector. In the initial stage, BI Institute will send its practitioners to UMN to teach topics such as international finance and banking, among others.
“Hopefully, we can share knowledge regarding the role of the central bank. In addition, we hope that practitioners will teach not only the (learning) material but also (add to) their personal knowledge and experience,” Abubakar added.
