Let us build a joint commitment to collaborate in creating decent and affordable housing for all
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono affirmed that the government will continue to encourage the provision of housing for people in accordance with the community's expectations.

"Let us build a joint commitment to collaborate in creating decent and affordable housing for all," the minister noted in his statement here, Friday.

The minister highlighted that the government had provided housing assistance since 2015 with increasing beneficiaries. This year, the government offered housing assistance amounting to Rp29 trillion and projected its value to reach Rp32 trillion in 2023 to build a minimum of 220 thousand houses through the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) scheme.

Hadimuljono invited the public, especially members of the younger generation, to immediately invest in the housing sector by buying their own houses.

“If young people only want to rent, then the rent will increase every year. However, if you buy a house, the installments are getting less noticeable. The sooner you buy a house, the better," he reminded.

Earlier, the government had distributed funds worth Rp97.44 trillion for the Housing Loan Program for Housing Financing Liquidity Facilities (KPR FLPP) for people from the low-income group (MBR) from 2010 to June 2022 in the form of 1.1 million housing units across Indonesia.

Mulyani noted that utmost efforts were made to ensure the state budget provides benefits to various segments of the community in need, including helping MBR to have affordable housing, with this year's target of 200 thousand housing units. This year, the government provided funds amounting to Rp30 trillion for the program.

Until June 2022, the government was able to realize 49.78 percent of the total 200 thousand housing for MBR. The source of funds, amounting to Rp30 trillion, came from the state budget that was channeled through State Capital Participation (PMN) of Rp21.1 trillion and to the People's Housing Savings Management Agency (BP Tapera) of Rp19.1 trillion.
