In principle, the ministry supports the decision taken by OJKJakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics collaborates with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to strengthen cooperation in handling electronic systems and electronic system operators in the financial sector.
Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G. Plate stated that the cooperation forged earlier would be enhanced with the new OJK Board of Commissioners as part of its service to the community.
"The two parties are strengthening collaboration to handle illegal online loans. We will re-evaluate the collaboration. In principle, the ministry supports the decision taken by OJK," Plate noted in a press release here, Saturday.

The minister emphasized that cross-ministerial and cross-institutional collaboration was crucial to facilitating swift and accurate decision-making as well as supporting the efforts to streamline services to the community.
Furthermore, Plate noted that the two parties discussed the registration of Electronic Systems and Electronic System Operators in the financial sector. The registration was deemed necessary to protect consumer rights in Indonesia.
Discussions between Plate and OJK Chairman Mahendra Siregar also covered data governance in national jurisdictions and cross-border data. He said collaboration between the two parties was aimed at ensuring that the system in the digital space ran well for all financial and banking activities.
"The OJK plays an important part as an authority in the financial services sector, while the police handle law enforcement and strengthen resilience from cyberattacks. Although the collaboration has run well, we must regularly meet to align our vision," Plate remarked.

Meanwhile, OJK Chairman Mahendra Siregar affirmed that efforts to strengthen the telecommunications and information system would help to make the country stronger in the midst of cyber threats.
"We have conveyed matters related to technical stuff and governance needs and interests from the financial aspect to be synchronized with the perspective from the minister of communication and informatics," he remarked.
Siregar expressed optimism that the cooperation between OJK and the Ministry of Communication and Informatics would be more synergistic in future.
"We must be able to strengthen each other. Our discussion will be followed up at a more operational and technical level," he stated.
