Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned telecommunications enterprise PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk’s (Telkom’s) metaverse platform, metaNesia, will provide several virtual match rooms for the International Esports Federation’s (IESF’s) 14th Esports World Championship.

The virtual match rooms could be accessed by up to thousands of supporters of Esports teams competing at the event, which will take place in Bali in October 2022, site manager for emerging technology platforms at PT Telkom, Anton Pramono, said in a statement issued on Saturday.

“In addition, metaNesia will present a talk show room, which will invite world-class speakers in Esports and games sectors,” he informed.

He said that metaNesia will also present a special non-fungible token (NFT) design, which can be owned by NFT collectors.

Further, metaNesia will unveil an attractive virtual gaming world, which will be full of Indonesian creative designs for gamers.

The involvement of metaNesia in Indonesia’s Esports industry is in line with the efforts of the executive board of Esports Indonesia (PB ESI) to support the development of the local Esports sector as a competitive arena that produces professional and creative individuals.

Furthermore, it also demonstrates Telkom's contribution to developing the digital economy and improving the nation's human resources.

"Not only for Indonesian gamers as the party who will compete (in the Esports event), but the establishment of a metaverse also requires the collaboration of dozens of (other) Indonesian talents, such as designers, animators, modelers, and game programmers," Pramono remarked.

Daily chairperson of PB ESI, Bambang Sunarwibowo, said that his party is optimistic that the event will open up a lot of opportunities for increasing the achievements of national Esports athletes and strengthening the local Esports ecosystem, including the creative economy and sports tourism sectors.

“Esports is a very positive field for people who have high intelligence, creativity, discipline, and work ethic. PB ESI is optimistic that the ‘Indonesia Esports Summit: Bali 14th World Esports Championships’ will become a strong foundation for Indonesia in the future as one of the centers and references of the world of Esports," he added.
