Transportation Ministry's acting Director General of Air Transport, Nur Isnin Istiartono, stated that the airport's landside and airside infrastructures are ready to serve commercial flights when the airport reopens.
He also called on state-owned company PT Angkasa Pura II, the airport operator, to properly ready all operational facilities to support commercial flights at the airport.
"We have conducted a verification process on the terminal building, which PT Angkasa Pura II has followed up," Istiartono stated here Tuesday.
The acting director general remarked that the resumption of activities at the airport could boost the airport's connectivity and armada utilization, thereby making flight-related fees more affordable.
Moreover, he urged the state-owned airport operator to coordinate with the Indonesian Air Force -- which uses the airport as the base -- and other stakeholders to ensure that safety, security, services, and regulatory aspects are fulfilled during the airport operation.
As the two airports managed by PT Angkasa Pura II, he said that the Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport could support each other to provide aviation services to residents and contribute to the national economic recovery and aviation industry growth.
The official called on the airport operator to readjust flight routes and restore routes redirected to other airports for the duration of the airport's revitalization work.
"We also express our gratitude to all stakeholders, who fully support (the revitalization project) until the Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport can resume its operation," Istiartono remarked.
Earlier, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi stated that the Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport is being revitalized to increase flight safety and offer greater comfort to state guests visiting Jakarta.
Renovation at the airport covers the revamping of runways and taxiways for aircraft parking and take-offs, VIP aprons, and renovations to the airport's drainage and water management systems, he revealed.
