Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited the Healthy House in Doyo Baru Village, Jayapura District, Papua, to ensure a good housing ecosystem in the facility.

The Healthy House was built for dozens of families affected by flash floods and landslides in 2019 in the Doyo Baru area, Waibu Sub-district, Jayapura District.

"Most importantly, I want the houses that have been built to be occupied immediately. We really want to build a good ecosystem," the president noted as witnessed virtually through the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel, Wednesday.

Apart from functioning as a place to live, the president is keen that the Healthy House empowers the community with a field prepared for farming.

The community will be able to cultivate the field close to the housing estate to grow vegetables, such as spinach, kale, and even for pig and catfish farming.

"Everything will be placed in the same environment. Apart from building houses, we want to empower the community. We hope this will bring welfare and prosperity for them," Jokowi emphasized.

The Jayapura district government stated that groundbreaking for construction of the Healthy House has been conducted since early January of 2022.

The construction of permanent housing was aid from the Ministry of Social Affairs for 76 heads of families affected by flash floods and landslides in Doyo Baru Village, Jayapura, in 2019.

President Jokowi's visit to a Healthy House in Jayapura District is part of a series of working visits to Papua Province since Tuesday, August 30.

Under the next agenda, the president is scheduled to head to Sentani International Airport and then take off to the Mozes Kilangin International Airport, Timika, Mimika District.

Jokowi will head to the Sports Hall in Tembagapura Sub-district to visit employees of PT Freeport Indonesia.
