"In the review, there is already a scenario that includes the KRL, and we will follow up later," President Director of JakLingko Indonesia Muhammad Kamaluddin stated here on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, JakLingko and the Jakarta Transportation Office are currently focused on conducting a six-month trial of the integrated transportation fare until December 2022.
Kamaluddin explained that his side is committed to following up on the scheme to include KRL in the one-time tariff after the trial on three modes of public transportation -- MRT, LRT, and TransJakarta -- is evaluated.
"We will commit to following up, but we may see (the trial's) results in December or early next year," Kamaluddin added.
He admitted to no discussion being held with the Transportation Ministry regarding the inclusion of KRL in the integrated fare scheme.
He explained that an integrated transportation fare for all modes of public transportation has been implemented in some G20 countries.
To this end, he expressed hope that the Transportation Ministry would consider including KRL in the integrated fare scheme.
"Observing the G20 countries, most of the tariffs have been integrated for all modes, so hopefully, this can be a basis for consideration by the Transportation Ministry," he explained.
The Jakarta provincial government has been conducting the trial on the integrated transportation fare through the JakLingko app, with a maximum fare of Rp10 thousand (US$0.67).
During this trial period, Kamaluddin said that the community responded positively to the integrated fare.
"The responses were quite positive, and all residents using the JakLingko app feel the benefits as being more economical," he pointed out.
