Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry has committed to revamping the education sector through the spirit of gotong royong, or mutual help, following the completion of the compendium of the G20 Education Working Group (EdWG).



The EdWG Chair concurrently the ministry's director general of teachers and education personnel, Iwan Syahril, said here on Thursday that the principle of gotong royong aligned with the national motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika or “Unity in Diversity,” which can support the improvement of the education sector.



"Inspired by this motto, the ministry is committed to reimagining, rebuilding, and reviving the education sector to expand access to quality education," he remarked.

The EdWG, which is a part of the G20 Indonesia's Sherpa Track, had discussed efforts to revamp the education system by adopting a holistic approach, with two main agendas, which are quality education for all and the use of digital technology in education. The 4th meeting of EdWG was held in Bali on August 31, 2022.



The Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry, along with G20 member countries, invited guests, and international organizations, completed a report and compendium of the G20 EdWG on Thursday (September 1) in Bali.



At the meeting, the alternate chair of G20 EdWG and head of the ministry's Education Standards, Curriculum and Assessment Agency (BSKAP), Anindito Aditomo, lauded the collaboration built by the delegates of the G20 EdWG that resulted in a report and compendium.

"The insights in these documents are a valuable contribution to our efforts to recover together and rise stronger towards a more inclusive and sustainable future of education," he said.



Troika co-chair of India, Neeta Prasad, also lauded the results of the first through fourth meetings of the EdWG.



"The report will be very useful for G20 member countries to learn from each other, as well as to build solidarity and continue collaboration among G20 member countries," Prasad said.
