Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Kartika Wirjoatmodjo is aiming to hold the trial of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train in November to coincide with the implementation of the G20 Summit.

"We will conduct a trial in November 2022 coinciding with the G20 Summit. We will test the Tegalluar-Kopo track," he informed while attending the inaugural arrival of high-speed train cars at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, on Friday.

He also said that the arrival of the high-speed train cars in Indonesia is a form of readiness ahead of the G20 activities in November.

President Joko Widodo is planning to make a working visit to review the progress of the high-speed train project and board the inspection train (EMU-CIT) from DK 127 to Tegalluar Station with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"By God's will, the trial will be on time with the schedule and also during the G20 Summit. But we will see the updates later," Wirjoatmodjo said.

The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train cars (KCJB) that arrived at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, on Friday were the first to arrive in Indonesia and ASEAN.

The arrival of the KCJB train cars is part of the preparation for the G20 Summit, which will be held in November. The train will undergo dynamic tests at the same time as the G20 event.

Currently, PT KCIC, together with a consortium of contractors, is continuing to accelerate various developments and prepare for the needs ahead of the dynamic test and next year's operation.

Earlier, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi informed that the high-speed train has advanced technology called Grade of Automation (GOA) Level 1 and a slim design, which will allow it to reach a speed of up to 350 kilometers (km) per hour. The train will have five stops and serve 68 trips per day.

The development of the KCJB as an eco-friendly, efficient, and safe mass transportation mode is expected to increase people’s interest in using public transportation rather than private vehicles, he said.

The G20 Summit will be attended by the heads of government of G20 member countries, comprising South Africa, the United States of America, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Russia, France, China, Turkey, and the European Union.
