It can be a preparation to face the digital era, hence I laud it because it can enrich our digital ecosystem and talents.
Bali (ANTARA) - Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) training could optimize the development of digital talents and ecosystem in Indonesia, Director General of Informatics Application at the Communication and Information Ministry Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan has said.

"The (training) program will build and strengthen the ecosystem, especially in improving people's digital skills, among others, to enter the Go Online MSME (micro, small, and medium enterprise) program," he informed at the launch of the Virtual Learning Academy program here on Saturday.

AR and VR technology, which opens the opportunity to optimize the metaverse, can be learned by many parties, for instance, smallholder business players, and it can be included in various national digital talent programs, such as the Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS), he added.

"It can be a preparation to face the digital era, hence I laud it because it can enrich our digital ecosystem and talents," he said.

The Virtual Learning Academy was initiated by the ministry along with Meta Indonesia—which is also known as the Meta Immersive Learning Academy (MILA).

Meanwhile, public policy manager of Meta Indonesia, Noudhy Valdryno, said that with the help of the Virtual Learning Academy, Indonesian digital talents will be able to take advantage of the metaverse market in the future.

The participants of the program will learn how to make AR filters and develop the latest VR technologies.

"We believe that in the metaverse era, we need more creators to be able to advance and make Indonesia not only a market (for digital products) but also a player (in the sector). We can be an important player," the Meta Indonesia official said.

For the learning curriculum at the Virtual Learning Academy, Meta Indonesia has collaborated with Hacktiv8, which is an educational institution focused on technology.

Earlier, the two had also collaborated on a development program for AR creators called ‘Metavolution with Spark AR.’
