Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Film Week, a film festival initiated by Jakarta province’s Tourism and Creative Economy Office, will this year feature a new program called the Producer's Lab.

According to an official statement released on Tuesday, the Producer's Lab will serve to guide young producers who are ready to compete locally and internationally.

The Producer's Lab will be implemented in collaboration with the Film, Music, and Media Directorate of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

The program is expected to serve as a platform for exploring the capabilities of young producers in the areas of production management, film funding, and distribution within the local and international ecosystem.

The Producer's Lab is also expected to help develop the film industry in Indonesia by presenting new producers who are ready to fight on the international stage, festival director of Jakarta Film Week 2022, Rina Damayanto, said.

During the program, participants will be expected to better prepare their long film projects under the guidance of producer mentors who have gained experience in various productions and international co-productions.

The expectation is to make their films competitive at various funding forums and allow them to be processed along with the directors or other production teams.

The Producer's Lab will be open to producers of Indonesian nationality who have made at least two short films, are currently preparing a long fiction film, and can participate in the activities offline.

Registrations for the program will be open from August 29 to September 15, 2022, on the Jakarta Film Week's website. More information on the program will also be available on the festival’s official website.

Earlier, during an event here on Tuesday, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said he is keen to see more Indonesian films that promote the country's tourism and creative economy.
