Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) - The International Sourcing Program (INSP) held by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) in conjunction with the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS), featured 1,700 business meetings between foreign buyers and Malaysian halal product exporters.

"MATRADE is thrilled to see the INSP MIHAS program being well-received by both international buyers and Malaysian exporters," Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, CEO of MATRADE, said here on Tuesday.

Held in a physical format one day before the start of MIHAS, the NISP hosted pre-arranged business meetings for more than 200 international buyers and over 300 sellers or Malaysian exporters.

Through the program, more than 1,500 business meetings were held, while the virtual version of the program involved nearly 200 international buyers and more than 200 Malaysian exporters.

The business meetings are expected to result in possible sales of up to 43.1 million Malaysian ringgit or US$9.56 thousand.

Mustafa said that MATRADE is continuing to receive requests for business meetings from international buyers, even though the registration deadline closed on August 31, 2022, and the program has been running for four months.

He saw this as a positive sign of Malaysia's trade performance as well as unlimited opportunities in the halal economy.

Coupled with the virtual business meetings, NISP MIHAS has so far helped organize business meetings between nearly 600 Malaysian exporters and more than 400 buyers from 50 countries, including the Middle East, European, Central Asian, South Asian, ASEAN, Oceania, and the African region.
