Jakarta (ANTARA) - The distribution of wage subsidy assistance (BSU) worth Rp9.6 trillion aims to support the workers' purchasing power amid the hike in prices of basic goods, Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah stated.

The government has allocated social aid worth Rp24.17 trillion from the fuel oil subsidy allocation within the scope of the three types of aid, Fauziyah noted during the Merdeka Barat 9 Forum (FMB 9) virtual discussion on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Manpower plays a part in distributing wage subsidy assistance to workers, with a maximum wage of Rp3.5 million per month. The total disbursed budget reached Rp9.6 trillion.

The BSU 2022 program gives a one-time transfer of Rp600 thousand to workers, she stated during the discussion titled "Fuel Oil Subsidy Allocated, Social Aid Supports Poor People."

A total of 16 million workers have the right to receive the aid, she noted.

The distribution of BSU is expected to be completed at the end of the 2022 budget year at the latest, so that workers can disburse and spend the subsidy.

"I believe that our distribution's first stage will begin this week. As soon as the data from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Workers Social Security Agency) is submitted, we will conduct data screening to prevent duplication," Fauziyah noted.

"After this, we will distribute the money through the Himbara (Association of State-Owned Banks) bank to be passed on to beneficiary recipients," she stated.

The ministry recently received data on recipient candidates from the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan for the early stage that comprises 5,990,915 people.

The ministry will conduct verifications to ensure it aligns with the requirements stipulated within the Minister of Manpower's regulation.

Earlier, the government had set a target for 16 million workers to receive this aid.

However, one of the conditions to receive BSU this time is that workers cannot receive other forms of social aid from the central government, including the Hope Family Program (PKH), BPUM (Productive Aid for Micro Enterprises), and Pre-Employment Card.

The government also necessitates BSU recipients to already pay the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan fee until July 2022.

With such requirements, the ministry had eliminated and left behind BSU recipient candidates reaching 14.6 million people.
