After being discussed since early 2020, the Indonesian people are finally one step closer to have a regulation on data and privacy protection as well as security.

Hence, the minister welcomed the House’s attempt to ratify the PDP Bill into law, considering that Indonesia recently experienced data leaks due to cyberattacks.

He believed that implementation of a law regulating the protection of personal data will strengthen and facilitate the handling of data leak cases.

Earlier, Head of the DPR Commission I Meutya Hafid expected that the PDP Bill could be ratified into law in September 2022 at the latest.
