This is a provincial government program to control inflation
Pontianak, West Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The West Kalimantan provincial government has distributed 20 thousand basic food packages to people from the lower socioeconomic class as part of efforts to control inflation and mitigate its impact.



"This is a provincial government program to control inflation. We are providing social assistance to people who need it, as many as 20 thousand packages (have been allocated for providing assistance) all over West Kalimantan," Governor of West Kalimantan, Sutarmidji, informed in Pontianak on Saturday.



He said that he made working visits to several areas to distribute the food packages because his administration aimed to complete the distribution of basic food items by September.

In the upcoming week, he and the Deputy Governor will make working visits to several areas, such as Mempawah, Bengkayang, Singkawang, Sambas, North Kayong, Ketapang, and even Kapuas Hulu.



"This visit was carried out to monitor and distribute basic necessities. After the visit, we will evaluate; for example, when inflation starts to (grow to a) concerning (rate), we will distribute aid again," he said.



In addition, his administration will also conduct monitoring in Pontianak, Singkawang, and Sintang to determine the inflation level as well as market operations.

"We will also carry out market operations, such as in the Flamboyan Market and the Teratai Market. So, if the price of eggs goes up, we will do an egg market operation. If the (price of) rice goes up, (we will also) conduct rice market operation. Whatever (price) is increasing, we will conduct a market operation, depending on the trend in that location of what (price) is going up," he informed.
