Avoid any forms of radical terrorism threat and terrorism funding.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT), Commissioner General Boy Rafli Amar has asked Indonesian migrant workers to always remain wary of terror ideology.

Indonesian migrant workers are vulnerable to terrorist influences since they lack knowledge of the dangers of radical terrorism, he said while meeting with 13,886 Indonesian migrant workers in San Francisco, the United States.

This has been observed in a number of places, such as Singapore and Hong Kong, where migrant workers have been exposed to terrorism, he informed in a statement released on Wednesday.

"There are also those who are involved in suicide bomb plans," he added.

The vulnerability of migrant workers is also due to the existence of Indonesian Foreign Terrorist Fighters (FTF), including in Iraq and Syria's conflict zones.

These groups spread the teachings of terrorism through various means, such as social media. They often use religion as a basis to act in an intolerant and exclusive manner to the extent of resorting to violence.

Given the data on Indonesian migrant workers' involvement in overseas terrorism, Amar urged the 13,886 migrant workers registered with the San Francisco Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) to be more cautious.

"Avoid any forms of radical terrorism threat and terrorism funding," Amar said.

BNPT's work visit to San Fransisco KJRI was part of the agency’s work agenda in the US.

Earlier, Amar led the Indonesian delegation at the First United Nations Global Congress of Victims of Terrorism at the UN Headquarters in New York on September 8–9, 2022.

During the event, he underlined Indonesia's commitment to fulfilling the rights of victims of terrorism.

In addition to Indonesian citizens, the Indonesian government is also striving to fulfill the rights of foreigners who fall victim to terrorism in the country.
