"Regarding land acquisition, I ensure that the land acquisition process is conducted by taking into account community land rights, especially of indigenous people," the minister noted in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning /BPN has taken accelerated steps in the development of IKN, including making thematic maps of land and space, compiling a spatial plan for the national strategic area of the archipelago for the 2022-2024 period, as well as releasing forest areas and/or conducting land acquisition.
“The ministry has made an inventory of control, ownership, and thematic maps of land and space for land use and utilization (IP4T) in IKN," he remarked.
The main goal of IKN development is to build a smart city that is competitive at the global level.
To this end, he is optimistic that IKN development would run in accordance with the specified target.
"We are very optimistic that IKN development would run according to the specified target. As directed by the president, IKN development is not merely a physical transfer of government offices. The main goal is to build a smart city that is competitive at the global level,” he remarked.
The IKN authority has confirmed that the focus of the new capital’s development until 2024 will be building the central government core zone (KIPP) as a livable city replete with requisite facilities for residents.
"Until 2024, the Nusantara Capital Authority will develop a livable city with complete facilities in the 900-hectare 1A KIPP. There will be the presidential and vice presidential palaces, coordinating ministry offices, Bank Indonesia office, ministry and state apparatus accommodation, and places of worship, complete with utility systems and road access," spokesperson for the National Capital Relocation Plan Communication Team Sidik Pramono earlier remarked.
The government expects the relocation of state apparatus to the new capital to commence in 2024 due to which there is an urgent need to prioritize the development of relevant facilities for their accommodation, he stated.
The state budget will be utilized to develop basic infrastructures in the new capital, such as government buildings and national palaces, he remarked.
Meanwhile, the authority will seek other legal avenues outside the state budget to fund the development of other facilities in the new capital, such as international-level hospitals, education facilities, public offices and commercial facilities, mixed-use development, and public dwellings, he revealed.
The capital authority welcomes private companies seeking to collaborate with the government in the new capital’s development, he said while affirming that incentives will be offered to encourage private investments in Nusantara City.
As a new institution operating with a simple hierarchy comprising an agency head, deputy head, and the capital transition team, the Nusantara Capital Authority will seek to reinforce the institution in the future, the spokesperson added.
