Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Industry Ministry is supporting the development of Indonesia's Silicon Valley as part of efforts to accelerate the digital transformation in the manufacturing sector by encouraging Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0 ecosystems.

"Through the Indonesian Digital Industry Center (PIDI) 4.0, the Ministry of Industry is collaborating with various parties," Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the ministry Arus Gunawan said in a statement received here on Thursday.

They develop a digital ecosystem with partnership and cooperation concept between the government and various parties, such as private companies and universities, he said.

One commercial area called Correctio has been built by PT Jababeka in Cikarang, West Java, and is expected to become Indonesia's Silicon Valley.

PIDI 4.0 played a role in the ecosystem development in Correctio and the provision of facilities for local startups to develop their businesses, according to Gunawan.

"We will pursue collaboration between startups and global partners to enhance their experience and networks in an effort to contribute to the ecosystem," he added.

Meanwhile, Director of PIDI 4.0 and Head of the BPSDMI Industrial HR Training Center at the Ministry of Industry Tirta Wisnu Permana said that PIDI 4.0 is also collaborating with Fablab Jababeka, the first Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab) in Indonesia, which was inaugurated by PT Jababeka in March 2021.

Fablab Jababeka is a facility for the development of Industry 4.0 in the Jababeka Industrial Estate, as well as a satellite of PIDI 4.0.

The Ministry of Industry has lauded Jababeka's commitment to cooperating and contributing as the first industrial partner and its emergence as a PIDI 4.0 satellite.

"With this opportunity, we hope that industries in the Jababeka area and local startups in the area can gain experience and knowledge to develop their businesses," he said.

Jababeka has opened access for startups and industries to continue to grow and produce innovations and technology-based solutions at Correctio, Permana added.

"We also hope that Fablab Jababeka, together with PIDI 4.0 and other industrial partners, can produce superior startups to provide solutions to the industry related to the transformation of Industry 4.0 in the Jababeka area, in particular, and nationally, in general," he said.

Meanwhile, Director of PT Jababeka Sutedja Sidarta Darmono said that a number of world-class facilities have been prepared to support the development of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0 in the Correctio area, including district cooling systems, solar panels, urban farming, FabLab, data centers, and smart command centers, among others.

In addition, a Transit Oriented Development (TOD)-based city has also been developed to facilitate accessibility.

As the largest industrial area in Southeast Asia, Cikarang was chosen for the development of Correctio, which has great potential to advance the industry in the country.

"This area has also been equipped with a TOD-based urban planning design that can be reached by LRT, MRT, high-speed trains, Damri buses, and highways that support easy community access for public transportation, pedestrians, and cyclists," Darmono noted.
