We will continue to encourage the cooperation because students (as our younger generation) are an asset for (optimizing) the demographic bonus in 2030 to realize Golden Indonesia 2045.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) said, it is important to build cooperation with universities and encourage lecturers to contribute more to efforts to prevent and eliminate terrorism and intolerance in the community.

Such efforts are expected to protect students and academics from the ideology of terrorism, General Secretary of BNPT Major General Dedi Sambowo said in a statement here on Friday.

Sambowo made the statement while receiving the visit of the Chancellor of Islamic Public University (UIN) Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin (SMH) of Banten province, Wawan Wahyuddin, at BNPT’s headquarters in Bogor District, West Java Province.

He emphasized that BNPT will continue to encourage similar collaborations with other higher education institutions since it is important to protect students from the influence and threats of terrorism and intolerance.

"We will continue to encourage the cooperation because students (as our younger generation) are an asset for (optimizing) the demographic bonus in 2030 to realize Golden Indonesia 2045," the general secretary explained.

Meanwhile, the chancellor informed that his visit to BNPT was aimed at building cooperation to prevent the spread of terror ideology on the campus.

Furthermore, he stressed that it is important for students to be free from radical ideology so that they can optimize their role in advancing the people and nation in the future.

Indonesia will soon reap a demographic bonus, when the proportion of its young population will be high. If the younger generation has quality skills and way of thinking, Indonesia will advance rapidly, Wahyuddin opined.

"The role of young people, including students, in this era is highly required because they will become (the future) leaders (of this country) in 2045," he added.

Hence, all threats, including terrorism ideology, must be prevented so that Indonesia can optimize its demographic bonus and its people can achieve high productivity.
