"Accelerating digital transformation is the key to unlocking our potential in global competitiveness and long-term development and empowering people and businesses to seize new market opportunities, particularly for post-pandemic recovery," the minister noted in an official statement received on Monday, September 19.
In a bid to pursue the goal, the government compiled the Indonesia Digital Roadmap for 2021-2024 that contained 100 main initiatives to push the development of digital infrastructure in 10 priority sectors, as a strategic guide to initiate the digital transformation process in Indonesia.
The government has also been developing the National Digital Economy Framework to encourage collaboration and foster synergy among all relevant stakeholders, ensure the priority of Indonesia's digital economy foundation, maximize various efforts to improve the digital economy, and ensure inclusiveness and sustainability.
Moreover, supporting infrastructure determined the success of digital transformation, so they continued to focus on developing infrastructure facilities, both in physical and digital forms, ranging from the construction of fiber optic networks, BTS towers, data centers and High Throughput Satellites (HTS), to 5G network development.

The government has also been developing human resources to meet the need for digital talent through the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a core part of the educational and vocational curriculum as well as training programs to assist workers in adjusting to the dynamics of the job market that had changed due to digital technology transformation.
One of the trainings that have adopted digitalization is the Pre-Employment Card Program, which allowed workers, job seekers, and MSME owners to acquire new competencies or improve existing skills.
"The issuance of adaptive, agile, and progressive regulations ultimately becomes one of the important requirements in creating a healthy digital business climate," Hartarto concluded.
