Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi met with her Australian counterpart, Penny Wong, in New York, the United States, on Tuesday to discuss preparations for the G20 Summit scheduled in Bali on November 15–16, 2022.



The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.



During the meeting, Marsudi said that the momentum of the G20 Summit must be used to showcase the important role of the grouping in helping find solutions to various global challenges, according to a written statement issued by the Foreign Ministry in Jakarta on Wednesday.

To that end, support from G20 nations is important to make the Summit a success, she added.



Meanwhile, Wong reiterated Australia's support for Indonesia's G20 Presidency and the implementation of the G20 Summit in November 2022.



Australia lauds the various approaches and discussions conducted by Indonesia to ensure full support from G20 members on various areas of concrete cooperation realized during Indonesia’s G20 Presidency and the G20 Summit, she added.

The two foreign ministers also agreed that Indonesia and Australia share the view that amid the current global challenges and situation, G20 must give benefits to not only its member states but also the international community, including developing countries.



Marsudi was in New York to attend the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.



She was scheduled to deliver a statement during the debate session of the general assembly.
