The five areas are prioritized because all delegates, including presidential activities, will be centralized there
Badung (ANTARA) - The National Police (Polri) has determined five priority security areas -- Seminyak, Jimbaran, North Nusa Dua, South Nusa Dua, and Sanur -- during the G20 Summit on November 15-16, 2022.

"The five areas are prioritized because all delegates, including presidential activities, will be centralized there," Polri Assistant Operations Chief Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendi noted in a statement here, Thursday.

Effendi explained that security operations during the G20 Summit will be conducted centrally.

"This means that police operations are conducted starting from the National Police Headquarters to the regional level in Bali and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB)," he remarked.

He noted that police officers assigned to the G20 Summit will serve for 10 days, on November 7-17, 2022.

So far, Polri has readied over five thousand personnel for security operations at the G20 Summit, while 1,600 members of the police are serving as reserve forces, Effendi added.

The number of troops deployed could increase according to developments in the situation and conditions on the ground, he remarked.

"The Police are also preparing special vehicles -- ships, helicopters, and escort cars -- to secure the areas," Effendi stated.

All motorized vehicles used by the police during security operations of the G20 Summit will also use electrical energy.

"In accordance with the directive of the G20 Summit under the Indonesian Presidency, we are being encouraged to become environmentally friendly in our implementation. Hence, we will use electric vehicles," Effendi remarked.

The G20 Summit in Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali, is the peak of a series of G20 activities that have been taking place since December 2021 in Indonesia.

At the summit, leaders of G20 member countries are scheduled to agree on several recommendations and proposals drafted at the ministerial meetings and G20 working groups, both from the Finance Track and the Sherpa Track.
