The vehicle is being fitted with additional features, BRIN researcher Yukhi Mustaqim Kusuma Sya'bana informed during the “Talk To Scientist Webinar: Toward Futuristic Era with Electric Vehicle Research” on Monday.
The features include an arm and back rest, canopy, and box for storing goods for sale, including foods and beverages, he informed.
The box will be open so that sellers do not have to step down from the electric motorcycle and buyers can directly take products from the box.
"We will provide a canopy to reduce weather exposure. We will create a display container at the back for sales," he explained.
The electric motorcycle prototype is being developed and will be fitted with a number of features, such as self-service and ordering, hailing application, adaptive cruise control, brake, sensors, and GPS (global positioning system).

Through the self-service and ordering feature, the product purchase and ordering will be done independently by buyers in order to expedite the transaction process and reduce verbal interactions, which some people with disabilities may find difficult to participate in.
"We expect that, in the future, not only the disabled can use this, but also the elderly, people with physical impairments, and even normal people can use it," Sya'bana said.
He urged all parties, including the industry, to collaborate in conducting downstreaming of research and innovation results so that they can be used by the broader public.
In the future, the agency will seek to conduct user trials, which will involve an interactive process to check whether the electric motorcycle is suitable for riding, he said.
The prototype of the electric motorcycle will be exhibited at the 2022 Indonesia Electric Motor Show (IEMS) at the Jakarta Convention Center from September 28–30, he informed.
