"Support and cooperation from UI will provide new perspectives for the G20 Sherpa meeting in completing the leaders' declaration draft, which will become the main outcome of the G20 Summit in Bali next November," Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiardo noted as per the statement received here Tuesday.
The official said that the 40 policy briefs presented by the university are drafted by the G20 research-based policy grant in 2022 and comprises 11 policy briefs on global healthcare architecture, 15 policy briefs on digital transformation, 12 policy briefs on energy transition, and two on cross-cutting issues.
Moegiardo, concurrently the chairperson of Indonesia's G20 Presidency Sherpa Track and Finance Track Joint Secretariat Head, highlighted that the Red-and-White electric bus presented by the university is entirely produced by the university's engineering faculty.
The bus has the highest domestic component level of all domestic-produced electric buses in Indonesia, he pointed out.
"The local component level of UI's electric bus is the highest in Indonesia. The coordinating ministry and the industry ministry would push what the campus has created to the industry stage," Moegiardo remarked.
He noted that the electric bus would be used for the G20 Sherpa meeting to align with Indonesia's commitment to lead by example during its G20 Presidency and to demonstrate its concrete commitment to the energy transition process.
Meanwhile, the coordinating ministry's Deputy for International Economic Cooperation Coordination, Edi Prio Pambudi, lauded the policy brief drafted by UI academics that could be another concrete result of Indonesia's G20 Presidency.
He also commended the development of the electric bus as an attempt to achieve SDGs and reduce carbon emissions as per the Paris Agreement.
Pambudi said that development of the electric bus is a matter of national pride, as it is created entirely by Indonesians. Its control and cooling systems were designed by UI experts, and the bus was built by domestic companies, he added.
