"Through the 'Bulog Care on Nutrition' program, we will guarantee the availability of nutritious food by providing nutrition-enriched rice assistance to 50 pregnant women with chronic nutrition deficiency and 30 malnourished toddlers in Mempawah district for (the next) three months, with a total assistance of 2,520 kilograms," Head of the West Kalimantan Regional Bulog Bambang Prihatomoko informed in Mempawah District on Wednesday.
The aid will be disbursed directly to targeted beneficiaries, he informed.
The regional Bulog is continuously striving to support the acceleration of efforts to reduce the prevalence of underweight toddlers—since they are the nation's next golden generation—by providing healthy, balanced food, and guaranteeing its availability.
"We, as one of the state-run companies in the food sector, are paying attention to the improvement of the community’s nutritional (intake) by supplying healthy, quality, and nutrient-rich food products. In addition, (we) have a commitment to help succeed the government’s programs for preventing and reducing stunting rates in Indonesia," the official added.

Bulog is also seeking to encourage the community to pay attention to the fulfillment of their families’ nutritional needs by disseminating information on the importance of nutrition as well as holding nutrition-enriched rice-based healthy food cooking classes.
"We directly brought pediatricians and doctors from Jakarta to provide dissemination to posyandu (integrated health posts) cadres and the community from several villages in Mempawah district on fulfilling their family’s nutritional needs," Prihatomoko said.
In addition, his agency also handed over a number of toddler anthropometry kits, toys for supporting children's growth and development, as well as supporting facilities for posyandus in Sungai Kunyit and Sungai Bundung Laut villages.
Earlier, the “Bulog Care on Nutrition” program was implemented in West Java, Central Java, and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) provinces.
The state-owned enterprise will continue to carry out the program in other provinces across Indonesia, especially in areas with a high number of nutrition deficiency cases.
