Bengkulu (ANTARA) - The Bengkulu Health Office stated that currently, as many as 3,009, or 19.45 percent of the local medical workers, had received the fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

"Currently, the rate of the fourth dose of vaccination for health workers in Bengkulu Province has increased, albeit not significantly," Head of the Bengkulu Health Office Herwan Antoni in Bengkulu City, Friday.

He noted that vaccination coverage in Bengkulu had increased, although slow and low in some areas, despite the available Pfizer vaccine stocks being sufficient to meet the target set for the third and fourth vaccination in the region.

Hence, Antoni urged all medical staff in Bengkulu Province to get the fourth shot of COVID-19 vaccination.

This was since the fourth vaccine dose was crucial to mitigate and protect against COVID-19 despite the current low case count.

Antoni said that currently, his administration had issued a circular letter for all heads of health offices to vaccinate the medical staff in their respective areas.

"We are focused on administering special vaccines for medical workers throughout Bengkulu Province to anticipate the spread of COVID-19," he affirmed.

The current COVID-19 vaccination rate in Bengkulu stands at: South Bengkulu District, with 73 people, or 4.78 percent; North Bengkulu District, with 608 people, or 33.85 percent; Rejang Lebong District, 222 people, or 14.08 percent; Kaur District, 150 people, or 18.29 percent; Mukomuko District, 80 people, or 4.95 percent; Seluma District, 113 people, or 9.35 percent; Kepahiang District, 360 people, or 38.46 percent; and Lebong District, 90 people, or 12.13 percent.

Furthermore, Central Bengkulu District had administered the fourth dose of vaccination to 648 people, or 74.83 percent, while the fourth dose was given to 665 people, or 15.14 percent, in Bengkulu City.
