"The national-level Catholic Ecclesiastical Choir Party (Pesparani), which will take place in Kupang on October 28–31, 2022, will be attended by thousands of participants from 34 provinces who have registered and declared to be present at the event," general secretary of the 2nd National Pesparani Committee, Sinun Petrus Manuk, informed here on Tuesday.
West Papua Province has said that it will send a 250-member contingent for the choir event.
According to Manuk, the number of participants slated to attend the event is 2 thousand, with the smallest group of 14 people scheduled to arrive from Aceh province and the largest group of 250 people from West Papua.
"West Papua (contingent) will arrive in Kupang on October 22," he said.
Meanwhile, committee chairperson Haji Jamaludin Ahmad said that the event preparations have mainly been done at the National Pesparani secretariat at the East Nusa Tenggara Communication Forum of Inter-Religious Communities (FKUB) Building on El Tari Street, Kupang City.
The Pesparani opening and closing ceremonies will be held at the Oepoi Stadium, while the Nusantara Expo activities will be conducted in the Flobamora Oepoi Sports Building (GOR) field, he disclosed.
The competition locations will comprise the auditorium of the Widya Mandira Catholic University of Kupang, Sta. Maria Asumpta Church, St. Yoseph Church, and the El Tari Hall.
Some competitions that will be held as part of the event are a holy book telling, Psalms reading, a catholic quiz contest, and adult and mixed choirs.
The 2nd National Pesparani, which is themed "Building True Solidarity for Advanced Indonesia,” will coincide with the commemoration of the 94th Youth Pledge Day on October 28, which symbolizes the spirit of nationality.
The choir event is also expected to promote the value of harmony across Indonesia.
