The meeting, which was held from October 5 to 7, 2022, was attended by 19 parliament speakers and around 59 heads of delegations. Their discussions centered on four main topics: green economy, food and energy security, ensuring the effective role of parliament and democracy, as well as social inclusion, gender equality, and women’s empowerment.
“From our discussions, all G20 countries and guest invitees from other countries who participated in the event have made the commitment to work together to achieve world peace,” Maharani said at a press conference in Jakarta on Friday.
No joint statements were issued following the meeting, which, Maharani said, had been agreed upon by all parties involved.
However, all inputs, opinions, and commitments made during the meeting have been noted and compiled to be concluded and presented at the G20 Summit in Bali in November.
She further said that all participants have committed to ensuring that no country is left behind in global efforts, including on ensuring food security.
“We are all committed to ensuring that coming into 2023, no country will be left without the food supply that they need,” she added.
The P20 also emphasized the importance of protecting women and children from the impacts of food shortage.
The summit was officially opened by President Joko Widodo in Jakarta on Thursday (October 6) and was themed “Stronger Parliament for Sustainable Recovery.”
