Our goal is to invite (people) to improve and care about the environment
Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - The Bali Students' Alliance for the Environment (AMB-LH) used the opportunity presented by the implementation of the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) General Assembly in Nusa Dua, Badung, to distribute educational flyers about current environmental conditions.

"Our goal is to invite (people) to improve and care about the environment. In the brochures, there is a discussion on the issue of forests, so we spread it in Indonesian and English," AMB-LH spokesperson Ni Luh Putu Meriandani informed here on Monday.

The 2022 FSC General Assembly is being held from October 9–14, 2022, as a forum to engage with people who contribute, collaborate, and create connections and solutions for responsible forest management.

In addition to distributing flyers, AMB-LH sought to invite local and foreign communities present at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) to get to know about the FSC, Meriandani said.

The students' alliance has collected a number of cases related to forestry and environmental issues in an effort to help improve FSC's tasks.

"There are some cases related to the environment. So, we, together, want to set it straight: how we as humans can protect the environment," she informed.

"The alliance only gives inputs, to find a way out," she added.

She said that her side, as a young generation and the community that will inherit forests, felt obliged to know about and question FSC's seriousness in preserving the world's forests.

"We know the current environment is very bad, influenced by pollution and human (activities). Based on FSC's second principle, FSC must maintain and improve the community's welfare through the economy. (It needs to address the question of) How to utilize the environment but not damage it," Meriandani explained.

When AMB-LH members distributed the flyers, many of the recipients showed enthusiasm by asking for their contact details for further discussion.
