There is also one (disaster relief post) in Bekasi. Thus, we will continue to supply (the required aid).
Bogor, W Java (ANTARA) - Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini disbursed aid to the refugees of landslides that occurred twice in Kebonkelapa Village, Central Bogor Sub-district, Bogor City, West Java Province.

Rismaharini and her entourage visited the affected area on Wednesday, at around 8:30 p.m. Western Standard Indonesian Time (WIB), bringing along mattresses, ready-to-eat food, and daily equipment for the refugees.

"We are still awaiting the (result of the) assessment (of the landslide location) since the condition (of the soil) is still unstable. That is why I urged the sub-district head to evacuate all (residents living) below (the landslide cliff)," she remarked.

The minister deemed it important to relocate refugees to a more proper shelter, as earlier, they stayed in a community’s prayer room (musalla) located in a disaster-prone area.

Hence, Rismaharini and her entourage escorted the residents to move from the musalla to a new shelter at a local social foundation's building.

The first landslide hit the village on Tuesday (October 11, 2022) afternoon, resulting in the victim count reaching 20 comprising nine people buried under the rubble of the landslide, one person having passed away, two seriously injured, while the rest had minor injuries.

In the second incident, the Bogor city government recorded that eight residents were buried by a landslide during heavy rains on Wednesday afternoon.

As of Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. WIB, four survivors were evacuated to the Bogor City Hospital, while the other four were still buried.

The minister said that the search and rescue (SAR) team would consider continuing to look for the buried victims at night. However, if the situation made it difficult to conduct operations, then the SAR activity would be resumed next morning.

She expected that the provided logistics aid would be useful for the affected residents.

Furthermore, Rismaharini ensured that the refugees' demands for assistance would be fulfilled since the landslide location was quite close to the Social Affairs Ministry’s disaster relief post in Cibinong Sub-district, Bogor District.

"There is also one (disaster relief post) in Bekasi. Thus, we will continue to supply (the required aid),” she added.
