Jakarta (ANTARA) - First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, Second Lady Wury Ma'ruf Amin, and Onward Indonesian Cabinet Era Solidarity Action Organization (OASE KIM) members attended a public education activity held to promote breast self-examination (SADARI) on Thursday.

"Let’s educate children, relatives, the community (about breast self-examination), not just self," Widodo said at the Jambi Governor's official residence in Jambi on Thursday.

The educational activity was carried out as part of breast cancer awareness month.

Widodo invited the cadres of Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) in Jambi Province to participate in efforts to educate the public about SADARI, especially their families and communities.

In addition, the First Lady asked the public to immediately visit the public health center (puskesmas) if they detect symptoms or signs of breast cancer.

"If (you find) something that is a bit suspicious or strange, please check at the health center," she said.

Meanwhile, Second Lady Amin expressed the hope that the educational activity to promote breast cancer awareness would continue to be conducted in order to improve the health of Indonesian women.

"Thank you women cadres who disseminated educational information to the community. Hopefully, this activity remains positive because it is for the good and health of women in Indonesia," she added.

On the same occasion, deputy head II of OASE KIM, Ida Budi Gunadi Sadikin, also expressed her appreciation for PKK cadres who voluntarily went from one village to another to raise public awareness about SADARI.

"Thank you once again because the women cadres are at the forefront for the health of village residents. We OASE women will always support all women cadres," Sadikin, the wife of Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, remarked.
