Mentok, Babel (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) met with traders at Mentok Market and fishermen in Tanjunglaut Village, Mentok, West Bangka District, during a working visit to the Bangka Belitung Islands Province on Thursday.

The face-to-face meeting with hundreds of traders and residents at Mentok Market took place after President Widodo visited a smelter owned by PT Timah in the Metallurgical Unit of Mentok.

Jokowi received a warm welcome at Mentok Market from residents who came forward to shake hands with him, meet him in person, or take photos and videos from their cellphones.

In addition to listening to the aspirations of the traders and residents, President Jokowi also took the time to distribute aid packages containing basic food items to them.

After meeting with traders and residents, he continued his journey to Tanjunglaut Fisherman's Village to meet fishermen living in livable houses.

Residents around the village enthusiastically welcomed the arrival of the President and his entourage. Some residents had stood in wait at the meeting location since morning.

"I am happy to get a package directly from the President," Aryanti remarked.
