Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) provides open research and innovation facilities to all parties, including researchers from universities, public community, regional governments, and non-governmental organizations.

"The BRIN adopts the concept of open research facility, so we open the opportunity to researchers in Indonesia," Head of BRIN's Earth and Maritime Research Organization, Ocky Karna Radjasa, noted in a webinar here, Thursday.

Radjasa urged all parties to optimally utilize the existing research and innovation infrastructure in BRIN to improve the quality and quantity of research and innovation in Indonesia.

The BRIN provides an array of research and innovation facilities comprising research ship armada for oceanic exploration, halal food product research facility in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, Genomic Laboratory in the Soekarno Science and Technology Area in West Java and research facility in Serpong, Banten.

The BRIN is also committed to providing open research activity facilitation and funding schemes on a competitive basis, Radjasa stated.

The products that can be facilitated within the agriculture innovation product testing facilitation scheme include agriculture, animal farming, and fishery innovations.

Meanwhile, health products that can be tested comprise medicine, vaccine, phytopharmaca, and health devices.

"Whoever wants to perform research can apply for research fund to BRIN on a competitive basis, and this is open throughout the year. There is no deadline," Radjasa explained.

"Next year, Insya Allah (God willing), the figure will increase," he noted.
