Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government is ready to finance 305 researches that passed selection of the 2020-2024 National Research Priorities (PRN), with total funds reaching Rp2.42 trillion.

"Starting today, we can start executing the National Research Priorities," Minister of Research and Technology/Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Bambang P. S. Brodjonegoro remarked while symbolically handing over the PRN to the Incentive Recipient Institution here on Friday.

The 305 researches comprise 153 researches from non-ministerial government institutions, 68 from state universities, five from industry or state-owned enterprises, 62 from research institutions, eight from private universities, and nine from community organizations.

The researches will cover the fields of food, energy, health, transportation, technical engineering, defense and security, maritime, social and legal, multi-disciplinary and cross-sectoral.

The researches will cover areas, including biofuel or green fuel, HPV recombinant vaccine, bone implants, stem cells, N219 Amphibians, high-speed trains, electric vehicles, NewSat satellites, integrated industrial salts, drone of Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) combatants, earthquake-resistant buildings, and modern Indonesian medicine.

On July 16, 2020, the Finance Ministry's Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) had disbursed Rp 14,304,043,796 in funds for 13 institutions that will conduct 21 researches during the first phase of the total 305 researches.

The 13 institutions include the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Brawijaya University, Sajogyo Institute, Andalas University, Tadulako University, Bandung Indonesian Institute of Art and Culture, PT Nusantara Plantation Research, Syiah Kuala University, State Polytechnic University of Manado, and PT Gria Technological Innovation.

Minister Bambang P. S. Brodjonegoro affirmed that his ministry will monitor and oversee the implementation of researches in the 2020-2024 PRN, so that the output or products are targeted as planned.

"We ensure that this activity can take place continuously," he stated.

The Ministry of Research and Technology (Kemristek)/BRIN is endeavoring to facilitate and introduce the products of the research and innovation activities to state-owned companies (BUMN) and private industries.
