Jakarta (ANTARA) - An official from the Ministry of Education and Culture made assurance that the ASEAN Teaching Materials Book met the quality standards ranging from its material, presentation, and design to graphics.

"This book, which is a collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has met the quality standards of these four things," the ministry's Coordinator for the Preparation and Development of Early Childhood Education (PAUD), Special Education, and Vocational Books, Wijanarko, noted in a webinar titled "ASEAN and Us: Moving Forward Together," in Jakarta, Tuesday.

The ASEAN Teaching Materials Book is the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to increase students' insights into the ASEAN.

This book is available in digital form and can be downloaded through the Ministry of Education and Culture's repository page and information on it will continue to be disseminated from December 2021 until Indonesia's Chairmanship in ASEAN 2023.

Wijanarko explained that material, presentation, design, and graphics are four important aspects for a qualified book to become a source of learning for students.

From the material aspect, educational books must contain appropriate material for catering to the students' needs.

Looking at the presentation aspect, he noted that the book must be presented according to the students' age group.

Furthermore, from the design aspect, the book should have an attractive design, while the graphic aspect is seen from the quality of book prints.

Regarding the book assessment aspect, Wijanarko explained that the process has undergone a transformation as compared to the assessment several years ago. In a pandemic era, his side needed to innovate to overcome limitations in conducting the assessment process.

"For example, the book assessment process has now been carried out online, so that the public and publishers do not need to send physical books anymore. The assessment also involves professional academics and practitioners from literacy communities that can provide suggestions and improvements," he remarked.

In addition, registration for book assessments is now conducted throughout the year, and results of the assessment can be directly known on the book assessment platform.

"Hence, we hope that the ASEAN Teaching Materials Book would be used quite well and would be able to increase knowledge and enrich our students' understanding of ASEAN," he concluded.
